User Enrollment

User Enrollment is Apple’s enrollment method designed for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs and gives IT the ability to manage a limited set of configurations and policies that help ensure user and device safety. These configurations and policies are associated with a user instead of the entire device, which helps secure personal data.

Setting up User Enrollment requires that users have Managed Apple IDs created using Apple Business Manager and is only available for devices running iOS 13.1+ and macOS 10.15 (Catalina). This is imported from the user data listed in your Apple Business Manager account.

You can install apps, configure accounts and per-app VPN, require a passcode and enforce certain restrictions with User Enrollment. Follow the following steps for enrolling the Apple devices using this method.

How to configure User Enrollment

Important note: User Enrollment is only available for non-supervised devices running iOS 13.1, iPadOS and macOS Catalina 10.15. Supervised iOS devices must be enrolled using the Automated Device Enrollment workflow.

Important note: On macOS, MDM commands will only be delivered when the local user who enrolled the device is logged in.

Mosyle's User Enrollment licenses can be associated with up to 3 different devices using the same Managed Apple ID. Each Managed Apple ID using the User Enrollment method will require one Mosyle premium license.
